Sugar eyes with blood from dextrose

For a spooky Halloween, you definitely need eyes with blood. These are made with dextrose and maltodextrin and have a light vanilla flavour. They are easy to apply as cake or muffin decorations. The best way to do it is with the finely ground cereal sugar from frunix, which you can mix like icing sugar.

Note sugar caramel: Sugar caramel is produced by heat treatment and contains only very small amounts of sugar. Sugar caramel is also found in Cola light products. If you cannot tolerate Cola light products, you should carefully test your sugar eyes respectively do not eat.

simple cake or muffin recipe


for approx. 10 - 15 muffins (depending on the size of the muffin pan) / for one baking pan simply double the portions

  • 1 egg
  • 125g margarine or butter
  • 100 g grain sugar
  • 250 g flour
  • 1/2 bag of baking powder
  • Baking aroma or Bourbon Vanilla who likes
  • 50 ml milk
  • Fat for the baking pan


Whip the eggs and put them in the mixing bowl (if they are bad, not all of the dough is lost), then add the margarine/butter, the cereal sugar and, if you like, the baking flavor or bourbon vanilla and mix well with the mixer.

Add the flour, baking powder and milk and mix well with the mixer.

Fill the muffin cups with 2 spoons. Make sure that the muffin cups are not filled up to the top, because the dough is still rising.


Bake at 180 °C (top and bottom heat)
15 minutes on the middle shelf (for small muffins - please allow more baking time for larger ones - it is best to test the muffins with sticks.
